That - and then some, is what this kutni sari is!!

This Kutni weave saree features four kol and a double warp body. The body incorporates traditional hues such as patchai, arrakku/maroon, and yellow/turmeric, which are considered auspicious for weddings, festivals, and other auspicious occasions. 

The body is adorned with woven kattams (squares). A palette of 17 colors is employed to achieve 51 distinct shades on the body. 

These sarees are meticulously handwoven using the exclusive technique of satin on top and cotton on the bottom. This technique, commonly used with a silk base and satin weaves, creates the unique satin border that distinguishes Kutni sarees. The high density of silk in the border, with a thread count three times that of regular silk sarees, enhances the vibrancy of the border. Weaving Kutni is a complex process that requires the weaver to handle delicate silk yarns placed very close together.
